Position: Engineering Change Specialist (Mold Designer/Surface Modeler)

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works in the Program Management department completing part overlays for quoting and implementing engineering changes as directed by both Engineering and Program Management
  • Experience with Siemens NX software is an asset but we are willing to train the right applicant
  • Performs overlays of new part data compared to the current mold design and creates PowerPoint reports for feasibility issues and lists how the differences in the data impact the current mold.
  • Implements the Engineering Changes into the mold design as directed by Program Management or the Engineering Manager.
  • Issues weld maps and new data files to manufacturing
  • Attends E/C launch meetings to explain the changes to the Tool Change Team.
  • Complete reviews and analysis requests from Customers through Program Management
  • Designs to internal standards for "Design for Manufacturability"
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Above average technical aptitude and knowledge of mold design
  • High level of independence and standard of professionalism and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and responsibility for one's work
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be self-motivated and enjoy teamwork
  • Demonstrated trustworthiness, reliability and demonstrated results-driven approach

Education & Experience:

  • Education in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma or Degree) considered and asset
  • Preferred experience in plastics or injection mold industry
