Position: Mold Making Supervisor

Reports to: Mold Making Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for organizing, coordinating, managing and evaluating all aspects of mold making to Windsor Mold standards, including Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery. 
  2. Works in conjunction with the Mold Making Manager and Leaders / Supervisors to manage all operations of mold making, purchasing, and support staff including hiring, compensation, evaluation, and discipline within established Windsor Mold guidelines, to make optimum use of manpower resources and dollars.    
  3. Through the EPIC system, initiate and drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives within the department based on employee, cross-departmental and customer feedback.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing quality issues and eliminate root causes through process changes within Moldmaking or working with other groups. 
  5. Implements and develops training plans for leaders, supervisors, and employees as necessary to meet departmental goals.
  6. Works closely with other members of the Management Team and other committees to achieve organizational and professional goals.
  1. Follows, adjusts, and helps maintain schedule as required to meet timing needs. Assists Mold Leaders in assigning accurate hours and maintaining an accurate up to date build process that is realigned when required to do so. Works with Advanced Planning (APG) Group to produce timely, accurate schedules for all jobs and pipeline work.
  2. Develop and assist in reporting on Monthly KPI data and is actively engaged in driving continuous improvement based on results.
  3. Determines priority of process development projects to be completed and the material requirements, schedules time, equipment and manpower accordingly.
  4. Ensures projects are delivered on schedule and on budget by performing basic project management function; researching basic business and technical issues. 
  5. Actively search for improvements in the manufacturing process, which result in reduced expense, improved cycle time and higher safety and quality.
  6. Demonstrates leadership skills necessary for developing effective teams and strives to improve employee morale
  7. Actively encourages teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation with all levels and communicates effectively and clearly with all team members to ensure timely and effective completion of tasks and projects.
  8. Consistently ensures all mold department personnel take ownership of their work through leading by example.
  9. Is widely seen as trusted and operates with integrity. Treats others with respect.
  10. Has the ability to plan ahead, set and communicate team objectives.
  11. Demonstrates developed problem solving skills including soliciting input from team members.

Job Requirements

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Engineering Technology Diploma or Moldmaking Certificate required;
  • 10 yrs. minimum mold making experience in a progressive, dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading teams and driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment;
  • Project management experience considered an asset;
  • Experience assessing manufacturing processes and driving improvements;
